Professor Marion Koopmans receives Honorary Doctorate from the Royal Veterinary College

Professor Marion Koopmans, Scientific Coordinator of One Health PACT, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London in recognition of her outstanding contributions to virology, pandemic preparedness and One Health.
Originally trained as a veterinarian, Professor Koopmans obtained her PhD on viral infections in animals before dedicating her career to the study of zoonotic diseases: infectious diseases that can spread between animals and humans. Over the past decades, she has become one of the world’s leading experts in emerging infectious diseases and a driving force behind the One Health approach, which recognises the close connection between human, animal and environmental health.
The Royal Veterinary College in the United Kingdom, one of the world’s leading veterinary universities, awards honorary doctorates only to individuals who have made exceptional international contributions to veterinary science, public health and society.
The recognition reflects Professor Koopmans’ lifelong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and international preparedness for emerging infectious diseases: principles that are at the heart of the One Health PACT project.
Congratulations, professor Marion Koopmans, on this well-deserved recognition.
